Dew point uses the Magnus formula with Sonntag coefficients (accurate to within about 0.2°F across normal indoor and outdoor conditions). Comfort bands follow the US National Weather Service dew-point scale. Absolute humidity is the actual mass of water vapor per cubic meter of air.
What the dew point tells you
Unlike relative humidity, the dew point does not change with temperature, so it is the honest measure of how much moisture is actually in the air. As a rule of thumb, a dew point at or below 55°F feels comfortable, 55–65°F feels sticky, and 65°F or higher feels muggy to oppressive. Indoors, condensation forms whenever a surface — a window, a wall, a cold pipe — drops below the dew point.
